I have started to do an ATC (artist trading card) everyday since around the 19th of january. I plan on doing one a day for an entire year. aka my 365. I will be posting a page on the site with them as I get them finished, or maybe a few at a time if i dont get a chance to upload them. Its more demanding than I thought it would be. Just setting aside time to do one everyday. still its nice to HAVE to draw once a day, get me off the computer for a few hours.
Also I just started working on a collab with my husband. Im really excited about it. I think it will be received well when all is said and done. Ive had such threadless submission constipation lately, its nice to um... nice to have some movement. :)

So I havent posted here in a while it seems.

I have a new design that is pending approval called Starving Artist, I really like it so I hope it does well.

I tried my hand at the threadless loves horror comp and all 3 of my designs tanked, undeservingly in my opinion. In order of best scoring to worst. Nothing to say about that other than Oh Well, I guess.

Last but definitely not least I got postcards printed up for the holidays. I will be adding them to the buy page later today.

to threadless.. these are both for the THREADLESS LOVES DRAWING competition. The first was an idea Ive had for some time now, and I finally got it together as a design. The other was kind of random. the original sketch was something my husband did, and then between the two of us, came up with the finished design, which I know is kind of weird, but also rather cool. :) so check back and I will post on the RIGHT NOW page when these two designs go up for voting. Im hoping on getting a third up for this contest, but Im not sure I will have time to before the deadline.

yep, everything is pretty much back to normal except for the fact that my work load is now tripled as I make up for lost time. I have a fixed computer, one still in the shop, new dvd player, new everything that got broke, and a fixed chimney. So what do i do first thing i get my computer back.. submit a design to threadless that I had all but finished before the lightning strike. Its now up for voting.

my house was struck by lightning this past sunday, so I decided I should by a powerball ticket. Im pretty sure that makes my odds of winning a bit higher somehow.

The story goes like this. We had just returned home from a trip to NJ to go to a wedding of a friend of my husbands. I signed on line, checked my email and heard a rumble of thunder, checked weather.com and they said scattered strong thunderstorms were coming through, no red banner like they do for major storms no orange one for mediocre storms. I shut down my computer anyway like I would if it were a major one, just in case. Hubby is watching tv, I go upstairs to open some windows. It was a very hot evening and i figure the storm blowing in would cool the house off nicely. I opened the living room window, felt a nice breeze, there was some lightning, nothing that big or scary, I walk up the stairs to open the bedroom window and when i reach the top step BOOM CRACK and a bit of a shock (like static) surged through me. The alarm clock radio started playing on its own, and all the numbers on it started rolling aroun and changing. I thought I might be traveling through time and chuckled to myself at the thought. I shut off the radio.. opened the window. lol.. then went back downstairs an my husband asked me if I was allright. 'yea Im fine' the storm passes, and my husband and I go sit on the front porch because it had cooled off quite a bit after the storm. Then our neighbor, whom we don't know, from across the street comes over and says, did you know your house was struck by lightning? 'NO! we idnt know that' go out to the street and look at the house and their is a huge hole in the chimney, walk around to the backyard to look at the house from there andthe hole is even larger. pieces of brick are everywhere. Back inside we start checking things. some breakers tripped but electrically we were fine, then we started checking other things and thats when we found out all the rest. I wrote the next paragraph before this one, lol, and I don't feel like editing it to make sense now with this addition, but there is new info in it rest assured and read on.

The lightning directly struck my chimney, which wouldn't be so bad aside from a big f'n hole in my chimney, it would be ok. Unfortunately my cable line was attached to the chimney, somehow it was fine but the surge of energy from the lightning strike traveled straight through that cable wire and basically broke anything that was attached to it. The cable box, a dvd player, a modem, a router, my husband's playstation, his computer, and worst of all mine. I say worst of all mine because I use mine for work everyday, hubbies is there as a last resort for emailing and such when I am too busy with work. It entirely sucks. I am writing this on a very old mac computer that we had in our attic that we hooked up just for checking email and going on line, but it has a hard time even with that. Both of our computers are at a shop right now I have no news on when they might be fixed or if they can be fixed.

I will post some pictures as soon as I get my computer back whenever that might be.

Everywhere else time has expired on it as far as legal issues go so there is no problem with that, I just happen to really like this piece and think it just hasn't been in the right contest.

Going to make a post that isn't promoting any of my shit. However I do have a question relating to this whole contest stuff, for anyone who might have answers.

First, Are there more of these that I should know about? threadless, designbyhumans, lafraise, shirt.woot, .tastythreads, bangbangt-shirts, shirtcity, yayart, popdeck, now I haven't submitted to all of these places, I submitted to threadless, DBH, tastythreads, yayart and popdeck. I don't really know about the others.

So I guess the second question is What are those other ones like?

Third, At places like threadless where there are tons of people voting ok, not quite tons, more like 1500 on average I guess, its easier to get votes, I do those promotional blogs, but I do realize that they don't really do much, you get the votes regardless of promotion if the work is good enough. At places like DBH though, where I don't know anyone and don't know how the voting works, how do I get people to take a look and vote on my submissions there. I don't like doing it in threadless blogs, although I do from time to time, is there another way, should I be an active member of some other design community that will give me the support that I crave and need? I dunno, DeviantArt or something? I have an account there that I have done nothing with so far.

I think I had more questions in mind when I started this blog, but now that I have gone through those 3 I can't think of them..

I really enjoy making doing designs like these, more so than even my job which I happen to love. But with these I feel I can be more me, and less clientish, although I see all the voters as clients to a point. It still sucks getting shitty scores on things I've worked hard on, or just thought they would do better. I won't be leaving threadless anytime soon, but I kind of need to find a place that would like designs like "Mistaken Identity" and "The Gardener" as well as silly things like "...Blinko..." and "Wonder Squirrel..." that you see on the right, or that you guys might already know about.

So if anyone has any advice for me, I could really use it. You can just comment here. I am assuming the only people that even look at this blog ever are threadless people. You are my only support group.. lol.

kind of neat though, thought I would share.

I Always Liked Your Porridge Best by Danielle Kerese (DaniellesGarden) shows Goldilocks cavorting with one of the three bears whose home she invaded. Is she breaking up the happy marriage of Mama and Papa Bear, or corrupting Baby Bear? It's a funny image, and the awkwardness of each character's stance works well- you can see the tension, which had me wondering if Goldilocks was about to be (comically!) mauled. It also sits much better on the shirt than I had anticipated, filling the viewable area in a way that is conducive to some good visual motion. Very nice work.
